I didn't belive this when I saw it, but apparently the pepsi vs. coke is a referendum at UVa..

Seems nothing is too rediculous.

Stickers! [Feb. 15th, 2005|10:05 pm]
I saw a sticker on a car today, and I wanted to get one like it. The only place I could find used CafePress (ugh) and was really expensive. So I made my own. They should be here in about a week and a half. They're 4.5 x 1.8, white vinyl with black ink, and they'll be $0.50 each. Let me know if you want one.

Phishing [Dec. 15th, 2004|11:00 pm]
So we got this email at work today. Alledgely its from "Ebay <ebay@ebay.com>" with the subject "Account Violate The User Policy" the body included such gems as " If your problems could not be resolved your account will be suspended for a period of 24 hours, after this period your account will be terminated." and a link to this page. I should clarify that they sent this to the csadmin list (that is, the list that is comprised entirely of system administrators). I'm pretty sure that the list itself doesn't have an ebay account.

Ignoring all of the other phishy (pun intended) details. "Account Violate The User Policy." Oh no, "Someone set us up the scam." Seriously. Do they actually get people with this? Are people this stupid?

I didn't know my mom worked for the NWS [Dec. 13th, 2004|08:43 am]
From the special weather statement for albemarle county:

ON TUESDAY NIGHT...TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE UPPER TEENS IN
THE INTERIOR SUBURBS...LOWER 20S SOUTHEAST OF WASHINGTON AND
BALTIMORE...AND MID 20S IN TOWN. WIND CHILLS WILL BE IN THE TEENS
ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA.
ALTHOUGH THESE CONDITIONS ARE NOT UNUSUAL FOR DECEMBER...SINCE THIS
WILL BE THE FIRST COLD SNAP OF THE SEASON...RESIDENTS WILL NEED TO
TAKE A FEW PRECAUTIONS UNTIL ACCLIMATED TO THE COLDER TEMPERATURES.
MOST IMPORTANT WILL BE TO WEAR MULTIPLE LAYERS OF CLOTHING. AVOID
WEARING COTTON CLOTHING...AS IT TENDS TO LET BODY HEAT ESCAPE.
ALSO...A HAT AND GLOVES WILL HELP YOU STAY WARM.

Saw The Increidibles laste night (which rocked), but during the previews I saw ads for The Foundation for a Better Life. Look around their website, its sorta neat. The cynical side of we wonders who is actually behind this (they claim they're a secular, apolitical group). The other side of me wants to sign up for the good news letter (holy crap! good news!).

So I just discovered that if I unplug a random USB cable from my laptop with my lefthand while I'm trying to use my mouse(The only USB device on my laptop) with my right hand I get really confused. Why can't classes all start at noon?

On a side note, I did my last ECE435 lab yesterday. R0x0r.

So I was reading my mail, and I clicked on a link someone sent me. The link went to slashdot, and when the page loaded I noticed I wasn't logged in. This was weird, since I had just viewed slashdot in the same browser window but a different tab. Then it hit me. Could someone have finally done it right? Not sent cookies to a link opened from an external applications beacuse of the XSS vulnerabilities?

Whoa, I say. Whoa.

Holy crap! Somehow I managed to go over my minutes last month on my cell phone. I just can't imagine myself talking for 314 minutes in one month. Bizarre.

VNV Nation - FuturePerfect - 11 - Beloved [May. 3rd, 2004|04:46 pm]
So I got bored today (when I should've been studying for my finals) and I started to look at old journal entries. Perhaps I should update more (I think i've been averaging a spectacular 1.4 posts a month recently).

Anyway, I'm finishing up the semester and I'm nearly done. One final at 7pm tonight, another at 9am tomorrow. And then I'm done. Over the summer I'll be chilling in the 'ville and maintaining an incredble 24 hours a week at work (Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday, oh yeah!). I suppose I'll be working on my thesis too. (Brief pause to email my advisor) But I'm looking for weekend trips and adventures. So email me or something.

Oh another things, I'll be moving at the start of next month (To krib 2: the return), so my address and stuff will change. I guess its just a heads up.

fuck. [Apr. 15th, 2004|11:04 am]
So I forgot to start fetchmail last time I restarted my machine.

The Result:

reading message andy@mail.nethernet.com:160 of 3791 (4040 octets) ... flushed

and here I was thinking that thunderbird was just fucking up.

and machine saw everything that it had made, and said 'behold' [Apr. 1st, 2004|11:21 pm]
So, I haven't updated this in ages. Maybe I'll start or something.

Things that take up all of my time:

1) Classes. I'm taking 16 credit hours and heres the rundown:
0930 - 1045 CS551 Advanced S&M er M&S. A lovely modeling simulation class with pfr. At 930 in the morning. I was hoping that the class would grow on me, but it hasn't.

1100 - 1215 CS458 Internetwork Engineering. Also know as TCPDUMP 101. Interesting class, but the labs are averaging 5 - 6 hours a week of work, and the professor seems to think thats reasonable.

1400 - 1514 CS551 Distributed Systems and Web Services. Moderately interesting and not much work, but the teacher is planning to make up for that in the next few weeks

1530 - 1645 APMA314 Statistics. Or. Why the hell didn't I drop this? I had the professor for multivar first year, and I don't know why I took another class from him.

1700 - 1815 CS445 Graphics. Interesting, but late in the day.

2) Work. I'm working for Dr. Johnson in the Pharmacology Department.

3) I'm taking this EMT-E class through the hospital. We just finsihed the classroom stuff, but I have a list of things I need to do before I can test in mid may

4) Rescue and Fire. I spend one night a week on a fire truck and one day a week on an ambulance. That takes some time.

Yeah so thats it. Now I'm tired, and going to bed (mainly beacuse tomorrow is rescue day and I've got to be up at 5.30).
